Green Rater services include helping the project team decide which points to achieve, verifying each green measure, and submitting the application and supporting documentation for GreenPoint Rated and LEED certification.
The green rating process is a non-invasive physical examination of building systems, structures, materials and components to assess energy and water efficiency, indoor air quality, resource efficiency of materials and construction methods.
Why are there two programs?
GreenPoint Rated and LEED for Homes offer complementary opportunities to the California residential building industry. GreenPoint Rated provides credible and accessible points of entry for builders of green buildings. LEED for Homes offers a national brand for environmental leadership targeted at the top 25% of green home builders providing market differentiation for the greenest builders.
GreenPoint Rated is designed to serve newly constructed or remodeled existing homes in California that perform beyond standard practice. LEED for Homes is part of the US Green Building Council's array of LEED-branded products that rate the sustainability of a variety of building types. GreenPoint Rated offers a more accessible point of entry and greater flexibility for builders.
